An introduction to Landscape Topology

While a large body of data on the benefits of Analogue Forestry exists internationally www.analogforestry.org the potential to study soil / water and and atmospheric benefits of a landscape at a hyper spectral frequency could improve modeling and subsequent design features of Earth landscapes in the future.

The application of ‘point cloud’ and LIDAR technology to map the 'landscape and it's topology' is a pioneering venture by Prof. Christophe Girot and his team at ETH , Zurich https://girot.arch.ethz.ch

Prof. Christophe Girot currently visiting Sri Lanka is returning to the landscape after 40 years having visited at the inception of the Analogue Forest project. At that time the project and the landscape had made an impact on Christophe who has gone on to educated young personas at a professional level in order to benefit the landscape and its long term sustainability.

The education team at ETH, Zurich has practiced many years by scanning and modeling flood proof and landslide proof anthropogenic development areas that European countries now use for modern landscape mapping concerned with natural resources management in those regions.

Today at Belipola we are humbled to welcome Christophe back ; grateful for his willingness to share his insight for how the 'point cloud' technology will assist to create better and more sustainable landscape restoration and development projects in the future.

Please join the knowledge sharing session scheduled for the 16th of November, at 9am Sri Lanka time
